Sooners Fall To Huskers 63-46

The Oklahoma Sooners fell to the Nebraska Cornhuskers today at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska the final score being 63-46. The Sooners looked sluggish from the start and never had the lead in this game. Even though Tony Crocker and Willie Warren, arguably the Sooner’s two best players, played tonight after missing Wednesday night’s game against Iowa State, they were a non-factor combining to score only 9 points and pull down only 4 rebounds, pretty sad for a team’s two best players huh? Anyhow, Husker fans can breathe easier now as they picked up their first conference win tonight.

The Sooners shot extremely poor from the field tonight(15 for 43 from the field), and allowed the Huskers to shoot extremely well from the field(24 for 54 or 44.4%). If you look back to my preview you will find that good offensive play was a key for the Sooners in this game. They did not play even close to good offense and just look at the result. The Huskers however, did exactly what I said they should do in my preview. They stopped Oklahoma from scoring and they won the game.

My players of the game are Brandon Richardson(Nebraska) and Cade Davis(Oklahoma). Richardson despite not starting led the Huskers in points(16). This is a huge thing to do for the Huskers because they rarely score(67 ppg prior to this game). He is a big reason they won today. Davis, despite picking up 2 early fouls led the Sooners in points(13 points). He only played 22 minutes but, as many who watched this game will conclude he absolutely played his heart out.

Overall, as I said above the Sooners seemed lethargic and not themselves today. Maybe, it was the traveling issues or maybe their just didn’t want it, whatever it was the fact is the Sooners were simply outplayed in tonight’s game.

The Sooner’s(12-9, 3-4) next game will be Saturday February 6th against the Texas Longhorns(18-3, 4-2). Hopefully the Sooners can pick up the pace and pull off the upset over the Longhorns, however if they play like they did tonight that will never happen. Well, that’s all for now! See ya next article!
