Keenan Allen De-Committing from Alabama

We are a mere two days from signing day, and Alabama looks to be losing one of their top recruits in Keenan Allen, the five star DB

Keenan Allen is rethinking his decision

from Greensboro, North Carolina. Allen had been committed to Alabama since November, but has recently de-committed and is leaning toward California. It was thought that Allen was going to de-commit from the Tide and possibly join his brother at Clemson; instead it seems that Allen is leaning toward California.

Allen is leaning toward heading to Berkley, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Allen decided on signing day Wednesday to honor his previous commitment to the Crimson Tide and heading to the Capstone.

What is the reason that Allen is reconsidering his decision to come to Alabama? In my opinion, it’s because Alabama has four other 4+ star recruits committed to the Crimson Tide for next season; John Fulton, DeMarcus Milliner, Jarrick Williams, and most recently, Dequan Menzie. Menzie is the most recent commit to Alabama as the word was let out via his Facebook message to another Tide commit, TE Brian Vogler.

Alabama’s class is absolutely stacked with secondary help, which is good because that is the area the Tide needs the most after losing three out of their four starters. It does hurt Alabama’s class some as rivals.com dropped Alabama below instate rival Auburn in recruiting with the Tide being 4th now and the Tigers 3rd. But, scout.com still has Alabama ahead of Auburn with the Tide sitting in 4th and the Tigers 5th.

Even with the possibility that Keenan Allen is backing out of his commitment to Alabama, the Tide are still poised to bring in a third straight top five recruiting class under the guidance of Nick Saban.

Here is a list of the current Tide commitments prior to signing day:

That is another stellar recruiting class head to Tuscaloosa if they are able to get those players to sign on Wednesday. Alabama is also still in the running to pull in some other big name recruits like four star offensive tackle James Stone from Nashville, Tennessee who is reported to be leaning toward the Capstone. I also wouldn’t count out Shon Coleman, another offensive tackle signing with Alabama on Wednesday rather than honoring his commitment to the Plains, although I don’t really expect it.

It should be an interesting signing day and with or without Keenan Allen, the National Champions are pulling in another strong recruiting class.
