Avs Blast Blues 5-2

The Avs Outplayed the Blues in a 5-2 win in Denver

The Colorado Avalanche played a horrbile 2nd period less than a week ago when they allowed 4 goals in the second period in their loss to the Nashville Predators. On this night the Avs would score 3 goals in the second coupled with 2 goals in the first to beat the St. Louis Blues 5-2 in front of the Denver faithful. Chris Stewart proved to be the hero for the Avs on this night as he stepped into the enforcer role for the Avs. He also was in the right place at the right time for the go-ahead goal in the 2nd period. ”It hit the inside of my leg and went in,” he said. “That’s the way it’s been this year.” Colorado goalie Craig Anderson also made 32 clutch saves, and helped the Avs win their second straight. The Avs took it to the Blues in the 2nd period and that proved to be the difference in this one. “We came out in the second period knowing that we had to elevate our play and they elevated before we did,” Blues coach Davis Payne said. “They jumped us with goals when we made a coverage mistake, then their goals came off two turnovers.” The Colorado Avalanche will look for another win in this four-game homestand as they are now 2-0. Next up the Avs will take on Atlanta on Wednesday night in Denver. If the Avs play like they have been, I see no reason why my next game recap will be about another Avs win. LET’S GO AVS!!
