Nuggets Cruise Past Hornets in Denver

The Nuggets Ran the Hornets Right Out of the Gym

The Denver Nuggets had some big men in pain on Thursday night. Kenyon Martin was out with injuries, Chris Anderson had a bad ankle and Nene wasn’t 100 percent. Who does that leave? Well Carmelo Anthony of course. Carmelo took the challenge and played like a true big man with against the Hornets in a 93-80 win. Melo scored 26 points and snagged 18 boards, a career best to help move his team into the #2 spot in the Western Conference. “I was going for 20. That was my goal, to get 20 rebounds tonight. I knew we were going to need it,” Anthony said. “I knew Nene was going to have his hands full with Okafor, and our other bigs … would have their hands full with David West. So, it was a great opportunity for me to go down there and grab some boards.” The Nuggets were in the driver’s seat for the whole game and at the half the nuggets were up 62-37. Melo could have gone for 50 points easily, but the Nuggets did an excellent job of sharing the ball and spreading the court. “Early in the game, my scoring, we didn’t really need it as much,” Anthony said. “We had everybody playing together. Everybody was playing well. J.R. [Smith] came off the bench, gave us some big buckets and kept us going. It came down to that fourth quarter when they started making their run and we needed some points to finish the game off.” The Nuggets showed the critics yet again that when their team is working together and spreading the ball, they are an impossible force to stop. Nuggets leader Chauncey Billups loved the guys stepping up. “With Kenyon out we know that we have a hole there and some guys are going to have to have some big nights on the glass for us.” Well Melo certainly fulfilled that role tonight as he snagged 18 boards. Chris Anderson added 13 boards as the Nuggets completely owned the glass on both ends. Coming up next for the Nuggets another home matchup. This one will be against the Bucks on Saturday night in Denver.

My poor Hornets lol….We just cant seem to find a rythym and it certainly hasnt helped that our All-Star PG has been injured for an eternity! Well good luck to your Nuggets, looks like they could make yet another run deep into the playoffs!
