What Just Happened?

By Chris Resor • on March 21, 2010

Oklahoma City, OK

Depaul, Wichita State, Bradley, and Evansville.  These are the teams that have beaten Northern Iowa this season, one team that could not was Kansas.  The Jayhawks join the 29 other opponents to succomb to the Panthers of Northern Iowa.  It was a typical KU loss, the Panthers rarely missed, and when they did, they rebounded, and Kansas couldn’t do anything right.  By now, you’ve all seen the highlights and know exactly what happened so I will spare you the recap.  However, I will tell you that this was probably the most dissapointing end to a season in since 1997.  The Jayhawks were the best team in college basketball for the majority of the year and the stars seemed alligned from the very minute that Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich decided to return for another shot at their second title in three seasons.  Well, suck it astrologists!  Northern Iowa played like the better team throughout and deserved to win and if Kansas would have made good on their late comeback, I would have felt horribly for the Panthers.  Fortunately, or unfortunately, that didn’t happen.  Please enjoy the write-up by Northern Iowa coorespondent, Tyler Hellman.

zipporah: It comes down to coaching… Self just can’t do it when it’s crunch time. All that talent and Kansas always falls early, save for that one year when they were lucky to have Mario Chalmers…

Really? They smoked UNC, the favorite, to get to that game. And the commenced to lay a butt whipping in overtime.
