The Packers remain undefeated and show no signs of slowing down. Here are five reasons that I believe the Packers will not lose a game for the rest of the regular season.
- Aaron Rodgers- The Packers quarterback is playing on a whole new level. The MVP is his to lose this season and no defense has shown that they can slow him down so far. His stats may take a hit as the weather cools but he played in colder weather this Monday night and still torched the Vikings secondary. One of these games a team will be able to slow down Rodgers but even on a slower day for Rodgers he can still carry this entire offense. Rodgers has done some amazing things so far this season and he will continue that into the final tail end of the season.
- The Schedule – The rest of the Packers schedule looks pretty favorable. They play the Lions twice and get the Bears at home. Their biggest challenges will be Detroit on Thanksgiving as they will be playing on some short rest after their game on Sunday and the other one being when they go to New York to face the Giants. While both these games will be tough and every other team will be giving the Packers their best shot, the Packers should be able to handle all these games.
- The defense’s ability to get takeaways- I am constantly writing about how the Packers defense needs to step up. But the one part they are excelling at is getting takeaways. The Packers lead the league in takeaways and Charles Woodson leads the league in interceptions. While the defense does give up a lot of yards they make the key plays they need too and usually those plays are turnovers. I’m fine with the defense giving up yards, as long as they get one or two interceptions a game they will keep getting the job done.
- Health – Unlike last year where it seemed everybody on the team missed time with an injury the 2011 Packers have been mostly healthy. There have been no major injuries so far this season and because of it the Packers have been able to keep this momentum going.
- Ability to combat pressure – If you watched the Packers last season, not many wins came easily and each loss was a close game. While it gave the fans heart attacks the team seemed to play best with the game on the line. Last year the Packers nearly missed the playoffs and each game could have been their last but they kept finding ways to win. This season is different as the team has won some blow outs but still has those close games. The experience from last year will help this team greatly as they make a run at history.
So those are the reasons I believe the Packers will finish the season undefeated. While the regular season schedule should be handled well by the team the playoffs could be a different monster but these reasons still stand for why the Packers will remain undefeated the rest of the year and create history as only the second undefeated team in the NFL.
