The Oklahoma Sooners have officially hit rock bottom. After a 65-47 thrashing at the hands of a Texas Tech team that, prior to this win, had no other conference victories, it seems the only way to go is up.
The Sooners coughed up 15 turnovers, and shot just 33% the entire contest. Steven Pledger, the Sooners leading scorer and three point shooter, went 0-4 from three tonight on his way to a four point outing. The defense allowed Javarez Willis to explode for a career high 21 points. The list goes on and on. To put it bluntly,Oklahoma flat out stunk.
The effort displayed by the Sooners tonight could be described as nothing more than lackadaisical. Sloppy turnovers, failure to get a hand in the shooters face, multiple 2nd chances for the Raiders, play like that simply won’t win Big 12 games, even against the cellar dwellers.
The only productive member of the Sooners squad it seemed was Andrew Fitzgerald who barely reached the double digit mark with 14 points. His effort is why he is the Sooner Player of the Game.
Overall it was a complete collapse from the Sooners. They all seemed lost and perhaps a little discouraged after losing two straight on their home floor. Hopefully they can get back into the flow of things in time for a Valentine’s Day matchup withTexasinNorman. Because they simply cannot afford another effort like this.
