North Carolina Football Recruiting: UNC offers scholarship to Florida RB

While the 2012 class is still not on campus head coach Larry Fedora seems to be hitting the recruiting trails hard to get the best he can for his first true class as the head man of the football program. From a link I found on one of my favorite UNC sites, Tar Heel Times, I came across a small blog about running back Ryan Green from St. Petersburg Catholic. The 5’10″/195 lbs. back right now is playing basketball for his high school, but the Tar Heels are looking at him for his skills on the gridiron. With the numbers that Green had last season no wonder UNC is one of a dozen teams looking to bring in the back to their program. In his junior season Green rushed for 1,171 yds on 140 carries (8.4 per carry), scoring 15 rushing touchdowns, as well as catching 12 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown and having scored three TDs on returns.

With teams like Va Tech, Notre Dame, FSU, Florida, Miami, OSU, S. Carolina, Auburn, Clemson, Tennessee it will be interesting to see how coach Fedora fares with the running back, who is said to be among the best at his position in the state and bodes 4.4 speed. For the first time in over a decade the Tar Heels were able to have once again a 1,000 yards rusher, it seems that the coach is looking to make sure that this happens on a constant basis in Chapel Hill. Of course, as more information about this young man, or any other recruit, comes out I will post it.
