Nerlens Noel has decided that he will play college basketball at the University of Kentucky. He made the decision to attend Kentucky over Syracuse and Georgetown University.  Nerlens made the decision by revealing the UK Logo cut in his now famous high top fade, on ESPNU “Special Signing Day”.  It was not all smiles for the Kentucky Wildcats. Shabazz Muhammad was the #2 recruit behind Nerlens and he too was making his decison on ESPNU. Shabazz chose the UCLA Bruins. Being a west coast kid I dont think  to many people were surprised.

Nerlens was once classified in the 2013 class but after Noel transferred from Everett High School to the Tilton School in New Hampshire, he reclassified into the 2012 class graduating in spring.

Nerlens has been compared to Player of the Year and Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis. While his defensive skills are supposed to be better than Davis’s, which is a scary thought. He is behind offensively. The positive thing about that is Nerlens was able to see Anthony Davis be a non-factor offensively and still named MOP of the Championship game. Seeing that performance, along with Coach Cal’s recruiting did the trick.

”Coach Cal recruited me real hard. He is a good person who cares about his players, he helps them reach their goals and the team’s goals,” Noel said. “They play as a unit and are very unselfish. Also the fans were incredible on my visit. They are behind the program 100 percent.”

The decision has placed the Wildcats in a familiar position in the recruiting ranks. And that would be #1, with Archie Goodwin, Alex Polythress, and Willie Cauley, rounding out the class. Anthony Bennet and Amile Jefferson are still undecided so things could still improve for the Wildcats going forward in this recruiting battle.

The stage is set for Coach Cal to pull out another miracle. Lets see who sticks around for another run.
