On Monday morning, 5-star, yes folks he is considered a 5-star recruit by maxpreps, defensive tackle Henry Poggi (Baltimore, Maryland) announced his commitment to Michigan. He selected the Wolverines over Alabama.
“I feel comfortable [at Michigan],” Poggi said in a statement. “I know that they have great players on their roster and great players at my position on their roster and in the incoming recruiting classes. I will do my best to compete and hopefully I will make the team and be additive in helping the team reach their goals.”
Tom Lemming ranks Poggi as the #25 overall prospect in the country and rivals.com ranks him as the nation’s #2 defensive tackle. He currently checks in at 6-foot-4, 260 and has the frame to add some bulk.
Poggi is the third defensive lineman, second in 3 days, to commit to Brady Hoke and the Wolverines. On Saturday, Maurice Hurst Jr. announced he would play his college football at Michigan. Additionally, Taco Charlton, he of The Opening invite, is committed to U-M.
Michigan looks to have about 4 more spots to fill in their 2013 class. The coaches are zeroing in on targets like WR LaQuon Treadwell (Crete, Illinois), S Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Florida), RB Derrick Green (Richmond, Virgina).
