Toronto Blue Jay’s Colby Rasmus goes five for five

At this point, I’m not sure what to expect from the Toronto Blue Jays these days.   They’re ethier winning a series or losing a series.  The good news is that they are only two games behind the leader out in the American League East Division.

On Tuesday night, the Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox, who have been hot lately, 9-5 and Colby Rasmus was unquestionably the star of the game.

Rasmus went five for five at the plate, scoring four runs, and racked up three RBIs.

Jays starting pitcher, Ricky Romero had a fairly good night too.  He gave up six hits, three earned runs, one walk, and struck out four batters in seven innings pitched.

It got better for the Blue Jays on Wednesday as they defeated the White Sox in the second game 4-0.

Starting pitcher, Brandon Morrow pitched his third complete game of the season, giving up two hits, no earned runs, two walks, and struck out five batters in nine innings.

“Just a dominate performance on his (Morrow) part,” said Jays manager, John Farrell in Wednesday’s post game press conference.

The third and final game of the series was a much closer one.

Alex Rios opened the scoring for the White Sox in the bottom of the first inning by driving in Adam Dunn with a single.

In the second inning, Mike McCoy hit a two run single, driving in David Cooper and Yunel Escobar to give the Jays a 2-1 lead.

J.P. Arencibia scored on an error later in the inning to give Toronto a two run lead.

At this point it looked as if the Blue Jays were going to get the sweep.  As it turned out, it wasn’t the case.

In the sixth inning, Rios hit a two run homer and tied the game at 3-3.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Orlando Hudson hit a bloop single into center field and drove in Dayan Viciedo for the winning run.

Jay’s starting pitcher, Henderson Alvarez gave up seven hits, three earned runs, one walk and struck out two batters in seven innings pitched.

The Blue Jays are in Atlanta this weekend to face the Braves for a three game series.
