East Lansing, Mich.— On Friday, Michigan State University revealed the paint job done to the hardwood in the Breslin Center.
The recent changes include: a bigger Spartan logo at center-court, Big Ten logo right under both free throw lines, and the court is no longer two-toned.
This is a drastic improvement to a court that I believed looked hideous a year ago.
First, thank god that the two-toned courts are gone. I still to this day don’t understand the point in teams having two different shades on the court.
Secondly, I always wondered why the Spartan logo at the center of the floor was so small. Now that the logo is much bigger the floor looks like it has added a sense of pride. Obviously there is school pride all over the Breslin Center, but there is just something about having the Spartan logo being this massive that I believe will make home games more “intimidating.”
Lastly, adding the Big Ten logos doesn’t really add or hurt the floor. Honestly, it would be cool to see that logo on the floor of every Big Ten school. It would show a type of unity within the conference when teams are playing out-of-conference games.
