Dallas Cowboys officially sign Morris Claiborne

Stud CB Morris Claiborne finally locks down a contract with the Cowboys.

We knew it was just a matter of time.

But now Cowboys fans can breathe a sigh of relief anyway as the Cowboys finally locked down the number 6 pick in the draft, Morris Claiborne, to a lucrative 4-year, $16.26 million deal. It includes a $10.3 million signing bonus. The question that might going through the minds of Cowboys fans is: What took so long? With camp starting on Wednesday, it would seem as if the Cowboys waited until the last minute to make things official. That is because the top draft picks have to sign in the order they were drafted, and it took a while for some of the people ahead of Claibrone to sign with their respective team.

With Mike Jenkins reportedly agreeing to show up for camp on Day 1 on Wednesday, this means the Cowboys finally get to start position battles and we all get to see the Cowboys revamped secondary in action. It is sure to be an exciting training camp leading up to an exciting season. I cannot wait to see how things play out in training camp.

About Mariner Eccles

Born and raised in New Jersey, Mariner has a passion for New York area sports, none more so than the Brooklyn Nets, having been a season-ticket holder for many years. However, the passion in the NFL was vitriol towards the New York teams as he grew up a Cowboys fan. Ironically, in 2008, he moved to Dallas. Mariner remains passionate about the Nets since moving, and about sports in general, actively willing to engage in intellectual debate and/or banter about anything. Other sports interests include curling and soccer. You can follow him on Twitter @TheMeccles or circle him on Google+
