Michigan Football picked up commitment #23 on Tuesday when Ross Douglas quickly accepted his scholarship offer. Barring a decommitment Brady Hoke would appear to have just one open spot left in his 2013 recruiting class. So the question is who will fill that final spot? The most likely candidate is WR Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Illinois) who recently announced his final 10 schools with Michigan highlighting the list.
[5-star RB Derrick Green in town for BBQ at the Big House]
On Sunday, Michigan will hold their annual BBQ at the Big House. 2013 targets expected to attend are 5-star RB Derrick Green (Richmond, Virginia) and 4-star WR Devon Allen (Phoenix, Arizona). There will also be a handful of 2013 commits at the BBQ.
Bad news for Michigan is one of their top recruiters, Shane Morris, won’t be there. The All-World QB will be in Florida for a 7-on-7 event, but while there he will have a chance to further recruit Laquon Treadwell, Alvin Bailey, and Leon McQuay III.
There will be a slew of 2014 recruits at the BBQ and don’t be surprised if there is a commitment from one of them. My best guess for a commitment from a 2014 prospect would be DB Damon Webb (Detroit, Michigan) or LB Michael Ferns (Saint Clairsville, Ohio). Webb plays at Cass Tech with Michigan commits David Dawson and Jourdan Lewis. On July 16th, Dawson hinted on his twitter account that a commitment was coming in a few weeks. Is he talking about Webb, Derrick Green or somebody else?

Back to the 2013 class, the next commit will be #24 for the Wolverines which will put the class at full capacity. However, between now and signing day events could certainly transpire that would allow Michigan to add, for example, Leon McQuay III.
As I mentioned earlier, Laquon Treadwell seems like the most logical candidate for the 24th spot, but he does not appear to be in a rush to decide. Could Derrick Green make a surprise commitment this weekend? It seems unlikely, but offensive line commits David Dawson and Logan Tuley-Tillman could certainly make a case for him, emphasizing that he would be running behind an elite O-line at Michigan.

I can’t see why some of these top ranked skilled position players wouldn’t commit to Michigan. The foundation is in place. Could use a few more playmakers and then call it a day.
