Big Ten Football Week 2 Review
Week Two record: 7-5 (worst nonconference record ever…)….Record so far…18-6.
Minnesota-44 New Hampshire-7….CORRECT…MarQueis Gray….period. He was 6-8 for 100 yards and two TD passes and had 17 carries for 109 yards and two more scores including a 75 yard TD run…and then sat the entire second half….It must’ve been nice for coach Kill and his staff to have a breather like this one…
Ohio State-31 Central Florida-16…CORRECT…Braxton Miller…period. HE was 18-24 for 155 with a TD pass and an INT…but he ran 27 times for 141 and three TD’s….I think Coach Meyer is still squawking about how his team didn’t generate a pass rush and his secondary needs a lot of work…but they do have a legit concern with starting HB Carlos Hyde left the game…
Virginia-17 Penn State-16…CORRECT…you gotta feel for the Nittany Lions after a loss like that…their defense had played so well…on the road forcing four Virginia turnovers inside their own 20 and only coming up with 3 points….plus they missed four FG’s…you can’t do that and miss that many FG’s and win on the road…
Indiana-45 Massachusetts-6…CORRECT…all eleven IU football fans across the country must have been holding their breath as all-everything QB Tre Roberson went down early in the 2nd quarter…The Hoosiers were up big already at that point…but unfortunately..he’s out for the year with a broken leg…just when IU gets something to cheer about…that’s too bad.
Iowa State-9 Iowa-6…MISS…The Hawkeyes have scored one TD so far in 2012…and more surprising is that James Vandenberg has yet to throw his first TD pass of the season…this was one of the uglier games of D-1 football you will ever see…next years PR slogan for this game should be “The Hawkeyes and the Cyclones…miss it..if you can.”
Michigan-31 Air Force-25…CORRECT…I am not ready to jump ship like a lot of Michigan supporters are at this point….come talk to me after the Notre Dame game…one of the things that jumped out to me the most after this one was Fitzgerald Toussaint only had 8 carries…hard to figure that one…Denard Robinson totaled over 400 yds of offense and 4 TD’s…
Notre Dame-20 Purdue-17…MISS…what an epic battle in South Bend…I was stunned to see Tommy Rees go in for the final drive..it really was great call by Brian Kelly…maybe the best of his tenure at ND so far…I just hope this doesn’t slow down the Boilermakers…they have a pretty decent shot at making the Big Ten title game…
Michigan State-41 Central Michigan-7…CORRECT…MSU has yet to give up an offensive TD this season..pretty stunning stat really…Le’veon Bell only carried the ball 18 times for 70 yards….I actually saw him mentioned as a Heisman hopeful during the UCLA-Nebraska game…not gonna win it with 70 yards vs CMU…
Oregon State-10 Wisconsin-7…MISS…these are the kinds of games I expected Wisconsin to have later in the season when the schedule got tougher…not game 2 in Corvallis…this team is in trouble and may not get to 8 W’s…of all the upsets in the Big Ten this week…this one was the biggest shocker to me..
UCLA-36 Nebraska-30…MISS…UCLA put up over 650 yards of total offense on the Corn defense…it was the second straight game that UCLA has put up over 640 yards of offense…like the PAC 12 needs another team that can’t be stopped….and if it wasn’t enough that the Bruins lit up the scoreboard in Pasadena..how about…
Northwestern-23 Vanderbilt-13…MISS…well…I saw it…the Wildcats defense won that game for them…they had big play after big play as that game got closer to the end…well…that and HB Venric Mark….he was fun to watch…this team is going to cause problems in the Big Ten this year….Mark my words…
Arizona State-45 Illinois 14…CORRECT…I will tell you what..it has been a long time since I have seen such an aggressive offense from anyone like I did Saturday night from the Sun Devils…they were exposing the Illinois secondary early and often…it was remarkable…ASU completed it’s first 14 passes and was 16 of 18 in the first half and the rout was on…

Wow Chad. Tough week for you. Definitely some shockers in there. Bummed for Purdue but happy for NU. Great win for them.
