Chicago Bears touchdown in Dallas

The Chicago Bears touched down in Dallas during Monday Night Football this week. The Bears pounded the Cowboys in the second half with all three units making big plays and riding the momentum.

Cutler led the offense in a striking performance that helped show his focus and passion. He threw for 275 yards that included two touchdowns and NO interceptions.

The offensive line was in good shape, holding back the opposing defense and giving Cutler time to get into a good position and throw accurately. Cutler soaked two sacks, but didn’t let the Cowboys’ defense rattle him. Forte returned to the field Monday, but is still battling a sprained ankle.

Chicago Bears defense kept the energy high with five interceptions for 99 yards. Wright and Moore picked off two for no points, both Briggs and Tillman each picked one off for a touchdown. Melton continues to keep the pressure mounting on the opposing QB, he took Romo down for a loss of seven.

The Bears came out in full force Monday, clearly with something to prove. Both the coaches and the players have to feel the pressure after two seasons of inconsistent performance and lack of leadership on the offense. Changes in staff, roster adjustments and injuries have made it difficult for Chicago to get anywhere in the post season.

Cutler’s exchange with OC, Mike Tice, is a good example of how both sides feeli the heat. Cutler has taken a beating from the media since he got here, and Tice has to recognize how fragile his position is. Cutler is no stranger to pressure and media scorn, but Chicago isn’t a town that places a lot of value on QB’s. Defense rules here. Cutler needs to maintain his composure without losing his energy. He can leave what appears to be a bad attitude in the locker room and start building more momentum and trust on the field.

The executive staff at Halas Hall has to be looking for something bigger—something more substantial than mediocrity. Plagued by errors and inconsistency, the last two years have been tough for the Bears. The changes in coaching staff this season were a start.

Now, they need to finish what they started.

The Bears will face off against the Jaguars before they go on the bye.
