Michigan Football recruiting update on David Dawson

Michigan has a clear policy when it comes to committed recruits taking visits to other schools. Don’t do it or you’ll lose your scholarship offer to the University of Michigan. That policy was enacted this weekend when David Dawson, a highly rated offensive guard out of Detroit Cass Tech, told the Michigan coaches he was going to visit Florida next week. Dawson has had eyes on the Gators seemingly since his commitment and couldn’t resist the lure. So as they say, the two sides parted ways. I wouldn’t call it a de-commitment as much as a mutual this isn’t going to work out.

Michigan still has an outstanding group of offensive linemen in the 2013 class; Kyle Bosch, Chris Fox, Patrick Kugler and Logan Tuley-Tillman. They also have an outstanding crop of freshmen offensive linemen that will be redshirting this year; Blake Bars, Kyle Kalis, Ben Braden, Erik Magnuson and Dan Gibbs. So the future of the O-line remains in great shape.

This also gives the coaches another scholarship to work with in what is a nearly full 2013 recruiting class. Michigan hosts Michigan State this week and there are going to be a bunch of recruits in town including 5-star running back Derrick Green (Richmond, Virginia) and 4-star receiver Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Illinois) both are players the staff covets. Shane Morris and a host of other committed prospects will also be on hand.
