After a very small slate on Thursday, where in all there were four games and two with a touch of carolina blue, this edition of Heels in the Pro’s NBA Style is once again composed of seven games. And all of those games but one feature a franchise that has a former UNC basketball on their roster. So, let’s get going with this edition of Heels in the Pro’s NBA Style for Friday, October 19, 2012, to see which former Tar Heela played and which ones are still injured and waiting to return to action.
[PLEASE NOTE: If a Tar Heel does not show on the box score I will not put it in the recap. Secondly, I will only post YouTube videos that are decently done, and if I can not find those, I will leave videos out for that game recap]
The first game of the night is between two franchises that have former UNC basketball on their roster as the undefeated New York Knicks [Eastern Conference ~ Atlantic Division] (2-0 in the pre season) head north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors [Eastern Conference ~ Atlantic Division] (2-1 in the pre season) in a Atlantic Division clash. The game, which is the only one between the franchises this pre season, was played at the Bell Centre in front of a crowd that numbered 22,114 and last 2 hours and 19 minutes. For the squad from the Big Apple it’s Raymond Felton (no twitter account for Felton), who starts for the Knicks and plays 33 minutes. For the 6’1″ floor general it’s a nine points out pour (4 for 11 ~ 1 for 4 ~ 0 for 0) to go with four assists, three rebounds, a steal and a whooping six TOs while having a -16 points differential. The other player on the New York roster, Rasheed Wallace (no twitter account for Wallace) isn’t with the team as he remains relegated to side workouts. On the other side of the hardwoods it’s Ed Davis (@eddavis32 on twitter). The 6’10″ big man did not see the floor in this one … “DNP ~ Coach’s Decision”. As far as the game went, it was Toronto winning easily, taking this one from New York by 19, with the final being 107 to 88. And doing this after being down by double digit in the game. With the victory the Raptors, who finished 2011-12 with a record of 23-43, are now 3 and 1 in the pre season. Instead the loss slides the Knicks, who had a 36-30 last season, to 2 and 1 in the pre season.
