After getting embarrassed at home last week in a prime time game against the Green Bay Packers, the Houston Texans showed they were up to the task of playing better and not making the same mistakes twice. They beat the Ravens 43-13 in a very lopsided game on both sides of the ball. The Texans only trailed for 1 quarter of the game and after they got the lead they ran it up quickly.
Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was on point this week after really struggling last week when he threw 2 INT’s at home against the Packers. He came out firing and really never looked uncomfortable in the pocket all game aside from 1 sack by Terrell Suggs. Schaub was very vocal in saying last week that they didn’t play up to their standards last week in the blow out loss to the Packers came up big this week. After a safety by the defense Schaub started the offense off right with a strike down field for WR Kevin Walter. On the next drive Schaub threw another to TE Owen Daniels as he was falling in the back of the end zone. Along with all that he connected with Andre Johnson 9 times for 86 yards. He finished the game 23-37 for 256 yards and 2 TD’s.

The Houston Texans offense did another thing that they’ve done all year long, they controlled the clock to the tune of 38:16-21:44. They were able to do so using Arian Foster, Ben Tate, and even Justin Forsett. Foster had another great game this year. Already leading the league in rushing TD’s Foster added 2 more to the total to go along with 98 yards off of 19 carries. Ben Tate also got 10 carries for 47 yards while 3rd RB Justin Fosrett came in late and got 6 carries and 32 yards. The Texans RB trio accounted for 177 yards on the ground. The Texans back field only had 90 yards total on 28 carries last week in the loss at home. They nearly doubled that number this week against a good defense this week.
The defense was in dismay last week after the loss of captain and leader ILB Brian Cushing for the season. This week they rebounded in a huge way allowing only 176 total yards to the Ravens on Sunday. Houston Texans OLB Connor Barwin got his first sack and it should have been worth 2 because it was also a safety. Wade Phillips was rotating guys in all game long and it showed as the defense never looked tired all game. After letting Aaron Rodgers go crazy on them last week through the air they held Ravens QB Joe Flacco to only 147 yards passing and forced him to throw 2 INT’s. 1 of the INT’s was by safety Glover Quinn and the other was tipped by DE JJ Watt and caught and returned by CB Jonathan Joseph 52 yards for a TD. JJ Watt did not add to his league leading 9.5 sacks in this game but was a huge impact yet again. He was instrumental in stopping Ray Rice early and forcing Joe Flacco to win the game for the Ravens on Sunday.
