The trade deadline has come and gone, and the Detroit Lions didn’t make any moves, as expected. With no cap room available, the Lions really had no options at the deadline.
Detroit is coming off a win against Seattle last week, a game in which they played their most complete football game of the season. Now, the team heads to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars, hoping to keep their momentum going.
One way the Lions can get on a roll is to get Calvin Johnson the ball more. He has dropped a few balls this year, and his numbers are far lower than any would have thought. Had you told me that Megatron would have just one touchdown through seven games, I think I’d have laughed.
Scott Linehan needs to draw up a few more ‘Calvin Johnson’ plays; some back-shoulder throws would be nice.
Defensively, the Lions lost a key member of the secondary this week. CB Bill Bentley will undergo season-ending surgery on his shoulder, and Detroit has confirmed that he has been placed on season-ending IR. Luckily for Detroit, corner Jacob Lacey returns this week, and he will start opposite Chris Houston with Jonte Green as the nickel back.
