“Michael Vick was our quarterback, is our quarterback, and will be our quarterback.” Those were the words of Eagles coach Andy Reid Thursday as he addressed the media for the first time this week. Vick, who has been severely criticized over the past few weeks, called a player-only meeting at the Nova-Care complex today. It is unknown what was said in this meeting, but I’m sure it wasn’t without a few choice words.
The Eagles have been one of the NFL’s most disappointing teams so far this season. With a roster filled with this much talent, or so we think, it’s hard to believe that they are sitting at 3-4 with the realistic possibility of being 0-7. Andy Reid and Michael Vick have taken most of the blame, and deservedly so. Reid is too stubborn to abandon his pass at all costs offense while Vick has constantly turned the

Andy Reid announced Thursday that Michael Vick will remain the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles.
ball over. (Besides the Giants and Falcons games.) However, this is a full team effort. The offensive line is horrendous, and injuries are not an excuse. The receivers are dropping passes, the defensive line is getting no pressure, and the secondary has been soft. There needs to be a spark that gets the Eagles going again. Some thought the firing of Juan Castillo would be that spark, but that idea went down the drain last weekend when the Eagles gave up 30 points to the Atlanta Falcons.
After Andy Reid’s post-game press conference Sunday, there were rumors flying around that Vick would be benched in favor of Nick Foles. This stemmed from Reid’s comment of him having to re-evaluate everything. This being Philadelphia, everyone took that comment to the extreme and assumed that Reid was going to bench Vick. Well, now we know that is not the case. Michael Vick was the quarterback, is the quarterback, and will be the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Andy Reid has nine games to turn this team around, or his tenure in Philadelphia will be over. Barring an injury, my prediction is that he will stick with Vick no matter what this season.
It should be an interesting nine games because there are two things that could happen. One: The Eagles turn it around and make the playoffs, thus buying Andy Reid more time. Two: The Eagles continue this slide and Andy Reid gets fired in a major shakeup after the season. Either way, the next two months will be entertaining.
