Michigan Football recruiting update: As has been expected for quite some time, Gareon Conley has decommitted from Michigan. This isn’t a surprise and by no means does it cripple the Wolverines 2013 class.
Here are some tidbits on Michigan commits:
Linebacker commit Mike McCray II was named Ohio’s Division II Defensive Player of the Year.
Running back De’Veon Smith was named Ohio’s Division II Offensive Player of the Year. He rushed for 1,883 yards and 27 TDs.
Defensive end Taco Charltan was named to Ohio’s first-team All-State squad after racking up 104 tackles and 15 TFLs.
Tight end Jake Butt was also named an Ohio first-team All-State.
Running back Ross Douglas (who will play cornerback at Michigan) was named to Ohio’s Division II first-team All-State squad. He rushed for 1,349 yards and 24 touchdowns. On defense he had one interception and one fumble recovery.
In a playoff game on November 9th Channing Stribing amassed some big plays to lead his team to a 55-26 win. He had an 82-yard interception return, a 31-yard pass reception, a 77-yard kick return and another 66-yard pass reception. Stribling, a safety, snagged 7 interceptions during the season.
Defensive back Jourdan Lewis hauled in an 89 yard TD reception on the first play of the game as Detroit Cass Tech went on to repeat as Division I Champions in the state of Michigan. Lewis was a first-team All-State selection at wide receiver.
Safety Dymonte Thomas was named Division III All-Ohio. During the regular season he had 1,198 rushing yards, 157 receiving yards and 19 TDs. Thomas also recorded 66 tackles on defense.
