After wrapping up the division title last week, the Green Bay Packers will look to get closer to getting the number two seed in the NFC when they take on the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon.
The Packers are heavy favorites in this game and because they still have a lot to play for, they should be giving this game their all.
Green Bay’s defense should have an easy time slowing down the Titans offense. The Titans rank in the bottom half of the league in both rushing offense and passing offense. The Titans have used both Jake Locker and Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback this season, and both have seen moderate success, but Locker has a one-to-one touchdown to interception ratio and Hasselbeck isn’t much better.
Chris Johnson is still dangerous but is having a down year. He averages just less than five yards a rush, but also only has five touchdowns. Because the Packers have Clay Matthews back it will be difficult for Johnson to get going.
In terms of offense, the Packers should have no troubles moving the ball on the Titans less than stellar defense. The Packers should be able to get a running game going against the Titan’s 25th ranked rush defense and Rodgers should have no trouble getting his usual stats.
The Packers are heavy favorites for this game and because they still have a lot to play for, they should cruise to a victory. The Packers need some help to get that number two spot but all they can control is how they play. Packers win this game 35-10 and put pressure on the 49ers for that number two seed.
The Keys to victory
- Stop Chris Johnson – Even though he hasn’t been the same the past couple of season, Chris Johnson is still the best player on the Titans and the Packers will have to control him. Clay Matthews being back should really aid in that.
- Get the running game going – The Packers should really attempt to get their running game going this game. Any sort of confidence for that unit going into the playoffs will be a plus and the team is running out of games to really establish a running attack.
- Don’t overlook the importance of this game – While the Packers are heavy favorites, they still need to win this game. The top seed in the NFC is also still up for grabs, but it is a long shot. The only thing the Packers can control is how they play and they need to just keep winning games if they want any hope of taking one of the top two NFC seeds for the playoffs.
