Michigan Basketball recruit Derrick Walton stuffed the stat sheet on Saturday night with 38 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists as his Chandler Park Academy squad defeated Toledo Rogers 78-73. Walton’s averaging about 28 points, 8 boards and 7 assists per game. A week ago, Walton went head-to-head with James Young (Kentucky commit and #6 player in the country according to ESPNU). Walton’s team beat Young’s Rochester team 58-52. Walton scored 17, Young had 23. The 6-foot Walton spent much of the game guarding the 6-foot-6 Young and, despite the size difference, more than held his own.
He’s not the only Michigan commit putting up big numbers this season. Zak Irvin has four 30 point games under his belt and is averaging about 26 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Mark Donnal scored 29 points and had 12 rebounds in an 80-50 win last week.
2014 target Devin Booker reportedly scored 49 points on Saturday night as his Moss Point (Mississippi) team knocked off Brewbaker Tech (Alabama) 80-65.
