One of the best things as a blogger is reading about your favorite team, or sometimes, just seeing a picture of them. Yesterday I did just that, as I found a link to ESPN‘s “Best Student Sections”, where UNC’s Tar Pit came in eighth in the nation. I will not argue with anyone about the rankings… to me that stadium and area will always be the number one place to watch football for a simple reason.
And that reason is because I got to watch the UNC Football team on Saturdays during the fall. Nowadays students get this luxury on Thursdays every so often. Of course I know that a fan from another program will say the same about his school’s stadium, and it would make sense. But when you get to enjoy a game at a stadium that still has trees surrounding it, in a town made for college, that is a once in a life time thrill. The fact that you are watching your team, just makes it that much better!
From the rickety stands where my parents watched me play football and baseball as a kid, to the so-called stadium where they came to see me at my high school, to the renovated Kenan Stadium… all have one thing in common. They are full memories, mostly good, where we can sit back and think about when on the couch about to watch another UNC Football or basketball game.
So yes, The Tar Pit is the best place for me, but so would anywhere else be, if it was where the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill played!
