On Friday, Shaun Crawford (Lakewood, Ohio) became the fifth member of Michigan Football’s 2015 recruiting class. A 4-star defensive back, Crawford is ranked as the #49 overall prospect in the 2015 class by ESPN. He chose Michigan over offers from Miami (Florida), Florida State and Tennessee.
Crawford (5-9, 168) is a versatile athlete, who projects as a cornerback at the collegiate level. As a sophomore, he tallied 420 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 56 tackles and 2 interceptions.
Crawford, who grew up a Michigan fan, will be playing free safety and wide receiver for St. Edward’s this fall and is primed to have a big junior campaign. He is also a standout on the track where he is one of the top 100 meter and 200 meter sprinters in the state of Ohio.
During his post announcement interview, Crawford credited George Campbell and Jabrill Peppers for helping him decide to go blue. He also said that his favorite Michigan player growing up was Mario Manningham.
