San Francisco 49ers: What to expect this season

San Francisco 49ersThe NFL season is a grind filled with ups and downs where anything can happen at any given time.  I however, can look into the future and although I would like to use my special talent for good, it only applies to San Francisco 49ers football.  Before the season started I decided to take a peek and this is what will happen at the end of this NFL season.

Frank Gore will reach a milestone:

Being 30 and a running back in the NFL has never been a good combination but he will be the exception to the rule.  Gore needs 1,161 rushing yards in order to become the 28th player in NFL history to surpass 10,000 yards and join Steven Jackson (and probably Adrian Peterson at season’s ends) as the only active players with that many yards.  San Francisco’s league best offensive live will counter Gore’s age and propel him to cross that mark.

Colin Kaepernick will become elite:

By the end of the season Kaepernick will be part of the first tier quarterbacks in the NFL.   He showed in the playoffs last year that he is not just a running quarterback and that he can beat you with his arm too.   In games against the Falcons and the Ravens, Kaepernick did his damage from inside the pocket picking the defenses apart with his accuracy.  This year he will be in the top 5 in total QBR and will be in the discussion for MVP.

Justin Smith will win DPOY:

It’s hard to imagine that a 33 year old defensive lineman that has played in the league for over 10 years can get any better, but other than Colin Kaepernick, Smith is the most important player on the team.  Yes, the 49ers have their all-star linbacker core which features Patrick Willis and Aldon Smith, but when Justin Smith went down late last year, it drastically affected the 49ers defense and was a key component to Aldon Smith’s drop in production.  With all those years under his belt, Justin Smith still anchors the best defense in the NFL and is the key cog to stopping the opposing teams running attack.

Quinton Patton will make a significant impact:

Earlier in the year the rookie out of Lousiana Tech was sent home after he arrived to the 49ers facilities too soon.  He was eager to work out and showed it buy paying his way from Nashville to Santa Clara but was denied entry due to a violation of an NFL rule.  Since then, Patton has shown that he is willing to put in the work to help out the team.  In the preseason he showed good chemistry with Colin Kaepernick and ended up having a couple of touchdown receptions.  At the moment, Kyle Williams and Marlon Moore are ahead of him in the depth chart but that won’t last very long, this kid is better than both of those guys and will make plays for the 49ers, especially down the middle of the football field.

The 49ers will win Superbowl XLVIII:

Of course I’m going to roll with the niners to go all the way this season.  Yes, they have question marks at the wide receiver position and the loss of Dashon Goldson is an important one, but the 49ers also added depth this season especially on the defensive line by drafting Cornellious Carradine and Corey Lemonier.  They are still going to be tops in the league in stopping the run and their offensive line will dominate the opposition.  Look for Vernon Davis to have a bounce back year and be targeted a whole lot in the redzone.  The game changer is none other than number 7 himself.  This year he will establish himself as one of the better passers in the league and end the season on a winning note.

Nice job with the forecast. I think Kap becomes a top 5 QB, both in talent and QBR. This is the best 9er defense I’ve seen, going back to Kezar. Sorry Ronnie. This is the best OL in football, though not deep. 3 Top flight RB’s, each with. A different dimension. TE is superior and deep. WRs are better than they are being credited, and Kap’s gun will make them better. Somebody with more weight than I, will soon be beating a drum that this is the top LB corps of all time, because I think Brooks will have a career year. Great coaching staff who know how to win. SeAdderal, who can’t win without a home crowd, and negIicent officials, are you kidding me?
