Here we go, folks. Week 2 of to what has been a very exciting first start to the season. The Dolphins will head to Indianapolis to face the 1-0 Colts. There will be a series of head-to-head match-ups that fans should keen into for this game.
The first match-up is between the two sophomore quarterbacks. Andrew Luck is coming off of a 11-5 season, and he would have won rookie of the year if it wasn’t for the amazing play of RGIII. Ryan Tannehill is coming off of a 7-9 record , which is still pretty good for a rookie. Tannehill will be out to prove that be is just as good as the top 3 quarterbacks from his draft class. If the Dolphins defense can manage to slow the Colts down, Tannehill will have the chance to do so. Tannehill has more weapons this year than he did last year. He will have the reliable Brian Hartline, and a new favorable target in Brandon Gibson. After Mike Wallace’s public display of frustration, the Dolphins will surely try to get him involved early, so look for a couple of deep balls to be thrown.
The next match-up to watch out for is between the Colts offensive line and the Dolphins defensive line. This will be an important battle for both teams. If the Colts slow down the Dolphin’s defensive line, watch out. Luck is a great pocket passer , and a great passer with time to find receivers equals a long day for the defense. The Colts are at their best when their passing game is going. The Colts have kept a great O-line since the Manning days , so the D-line better bring the A-game.
The Dolphins D-line are now deep which means that they have the potential to cause havoc for the Colts. Led by Cameron Wake, the Dolphins have a multitude of defensive linemen who can put pressure on the quarterback. The Dolphins have Oilvier Vernon, and Jared Odrick on the outside , and Paul Soliai in the middle.
This game will be close, but two things must happen for the Dolphins to win:
1) They must put pressure on Luck. If they can do that, they will be able to slow the Colts down. Otherwise , the Colts will put points on the board.
2)The Dolphins must put points on the board. They were able to put 23 points last week, so that is a good sign. We will see if the Phins can have a repeat performance his week. If so, the Dolphins wil have a chance to pull off the upset.
My prediction: The Dolphins will come ready to play against the Colts. If Miami can continue to put points on the board throughout the game, the Dolphins can pull off the upset.
Dolphins 30, Colts 27.
