Sunday night football features the most anticipated quarterback matchup so far and no I’m not talking about the Manning bowl. It’s Kaepernick and Wilson. A whole offseason of back and forth smack and twitter wars will end as the Seahawks and the 49ers collide in a matchup of the two most complete teams in NFL. Both teams are coming of victories but they achieved them in different ways. Colin Kaepernick had a career day throwing for 412 yards but now he will have to go up against the toughest secondary with cornerback Richard Sherman and hard hitting safeties Kam Chancelor and Earl Thomas. Last year, 49er wide receivers combined for 14 catches and no touchdowns so it would appear that they have their work cut out for them since the niner wide receiver corps looks to consist of Anquan Boldin and a bunch of other guys. The Seahawks come of a surprising hard fought victory over the Carolina Panthers in a game where Russell Wilson threw for 320 yards and a touchdown but the Seattle offense only managed to score 12 points. Their defense did however manage to hold Cam Newton and company to only 253 total yards. Look for both running games to struggle against two of the best run defenses and the game ultimately be decided through the air. The key matchup will be Anquan Boldin against Richard Sherman. Both guys are extremely physical so it will be interesting to see if Boldin can create the separation so that Kaepernick can find him, especially in third down situations. The Seahawks went 8-0 last year. They just don’t loose at home and although I don’t think they’ll go undefeated again this year I think that this is a game they will eventually pull out. A late turnover will determine the outcome of the game. Seahawks 24 49ers 21
