Manchester United will take on Manchester City this weekend at 11am Eastern time in the United States. This will be David Moyes’ first real test in the Premier League as his Manchester United side are in 5th place, while their Manchester rivals, City, rest in 4rth place. It will be tough for Moyes to get on top of a side like Manchester City. City have heavily invested in their squad in this past summer transfer window while Manchester United have only made two signings. With all of these factors coming into place, who will win the Manchester derby? Will it be Manchester Untied, the current reigning champions of England, or Manchester City, who look to get back to their winning ways?
Manchester United and David Moyes have a real test in this year’s Enlgish Premier League. With the departure of United’s greatest manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, many have suspected Manchester United to fall from the top. With David Moyes in charge, many believed he wasn’t ready to take charge of a team that needed to win trophies every season.
Though, David Moyes looks determined to change that with their latest victory being over Bayer Leverkusen in a 4-2 win which was won in empathic style.
Wayne Rooney was the star of the night bagging two goals in the process along with van Persie and Valencia. This game would be seen as a huge comeback as Manchester suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Liverpool. This will give Manchester United a new swagger about them as they head into this match with high ambitions of emerging victorious once again.
Manchester United will find it hard to break down City. City has ever expanded their side’s spending budget on new players like Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic, and Martin Demichelis. With all of these new signings, Manchester City still face a problem over the concerning injuries of Gael Clichy (hip/thigh), David Silva (hip/thigh), Demichelis (hip/thigh), and Micah Richards (hamstring). With City without their chief playmaker, Manchester United may have a chance going into this derby while holding their heads high.
Manchester City’s manager Manuel Pellegrini has informed his players that they have to beat Manchester United in this coming weekend. “It is impossible not to be under pressure when replacing Sir Alex Ferguson ,” he added. “Managing Manchester United, or any big team, you are always under pressure but that is a good way to work because you know what you have to do. “He [Moyes] had good results against Manchester City when he managed Everton, but I had a good record against Everton when he was manager there.” Pellegrini has informed to Moyes and Manchester United that they will face a big test when the two meet on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. There will be much anticipation between the two sides as the new managers face menacing pressure from their boards and fans respectively.
Who do you think is going to win this year’s edition of the Manchester United? Who will claim all of the bragging rights in Manchester?
