As the final whistle blows ahead of full time at the Stadium of Light, Manchester United managed to overcome a 1-0 deficit and win 2-1 away from home. As Manchester United were heading to the game expecting to claim 3 vital points as they sit in the bottom half of the table at 12th place. Now with this win, Manchester Untied sit in 9th place, a point behind newly promoted side Hull City. However, if it were not for the efforts of Manchester United’s new exciting academy prospect, Adnan Januzaj, the Red Devils would be in a rut.
Manchester United were poor to begin with as Sunderland went up first as Craig Gardner scored in the 5th minute. A cross from Manchester United’s left side made its way to Phil Jones whom seemed to have a poor clearance but Vidic takes all the plaudits as his poor touch costed the Red Devils a clean sheet. This was seen as a killer blow to Manchester United as hopes of an easy transition under their new manager David Moyes seems doubtful. That would all seem to change as Manchester United clawed their back to victory due to both goals scored by Adnan Januzaj.
David Moyes praised the performance of teen sensation Adnan Januzaj after his impressive debut as the 18-year-old scored both of Manchester United’s two goals to help them come from behind against Sunderland. Adnan Januzaj is a Belgian academy prospect that joined Manchester United at the age of 16 from Anderlecht. Adnan plies his trade anywhere in the midfield but emerged as United’s best player as he managed to put away 2 goals in what would be his first start in the new campaign. ”It wasn’t just his goals it was his passing, his control and his movement. He is a very, very good player,” says Moyes. Moyes was very pleased with the youngster’s debut which only adds more concern for Moyes as he tries to establish his strongest starting eleven.
Adnan Januzaj would mark his debut with two wonderful strikes in the 55th and 62th minute. Adnan spread the ball out to the left side to Patrice Evra who would whip in a ball that was met behind his intended target which fell nicely for Adnan to place in the back of the net with his weaker foot. Then in the 62th minute, Luis Nani made his run down the line to cut back to his left foot thus beating two players. His intended cross would be poorly cleared and Adnan would finish home a fantastic volley that seemed to have a van Persie-eque style to it. The youngster surely turned around Manchester United’s deficit to give the Red Devils a vital three points thus giving them a 9th place standing in the current Premier League season. There will be a lot to learn for Manchester United as they try to re-find their form that could have made this a very different game for them. Although, all credit goes to Adnan Januzaj’s debut goals that truly made him a saviour for all United fans.
