The Pittsburgh Steelers recently made a trade for tackle Levi Brown of the Arizona Cardinals. The offensive line for the Steelers this season is a disaster and is playing a key role in the Steelers’ 0-4 start to the season. Is Levi Brown someone who’ll bring some improvement to this horrendous offensive line?
In the Steelers’ most recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Ben Roethlisberger was once again running for his life, taking several hits and being sacked on a number of occasions. Left tackle Mike Adams’ performance was nothing short of pitiful. Adams was blown off the line more times than not, allowed two sacks and was completely manhandled all game long.
When drafted, Adams was thought to be a good draft choice by the Steelers. But Adams hasn’t lived up to his expectations. He isn’t solely to blame for how bad this offensive line is but his pathetic performance was a stand-out in the loss across the pond.
The Steelers went out and traded for tackle Levi Brown who the Cardinals were more than happy to trade away. Brown is nowhere near an exceptional player and the Cardinals invested way too much money in a player who wasn’t producing. With that said, why would the Steelers go after him?
They’re desperate. Yes, desperate.
The Steelers need to turn this season around in a hurry. Some help was needed on the offensive line and Brown was there. How much help he’ll be remains to be seen but at this point the common questions with the Steelers is “why not?” Why not bring Brown in and give him a chance? The same could be said when the team went out to get running back Felix Jones. Where the Steelers are at this point in the season, bringing in subpar players to bad team isn’t a bad option.
Worst case scenario: Brown is just as bad as Adams and the team can flip-flop between the two. The Steelers are running out of time to salvage this season. Moves need to be made and this trade for Brown was one the team felt might help. If you’re optimistic then maybe Brown comes in and finally shows some life and the Steelers are praised for making this move. I don’t think Brown will make much of an impact but once again why not give him a go; he can’t do any worse than what Adam’s been doing.
