Texas A&M (4-1) and Ole Miss (3-2) face off this Saturday, October 12 in Oxford, Mississippi. I think this game will be Texas A&M’s true test in the SEC. While you may think, wouldn’t that be better saved for a game against No.1 or No.2? I think not.
This game will be insane. Both TAMU and Ole Miss run a hurry up offense. Ole Miss inadvertently prepares to shut TAMU down every practice. However, Texas A&M has undoubtedly one of the best offenses in the country, averaging 586 yards per game.
While Ole Miss is used to practicing against the same type of offense that Texas A&M brings to the table, they are lacking someone on the same level as Manziel. Texas A&M’s growing defense gets to practice against the defending Heisman Trophy winner. If Johnny Football plays like he usually does, Ole Miss is in for a beating.
The Aggies have also fought during every game. They even gave it all they had when narrowly losing to No. 1 Alabama. This team has grown and they have gotten better with each week. Their defense has shown great improvement, and I believe they’re prepared for whatever the Rebels throw their way.
Ole Miss, however, has lost to both No. 1 Alabama and unranked Auburn. Ole Miss was completely shut out by Bama, and they lost to Auburn. That was after they were reportedly talking about an upset. Obviously, Ole Miss isn’t really accurate on their upset meter.
I believe while everyone is expecting an upset, TAMU will excel and do what they do best. As long as the defense can hold it together, Manziel will help his team score another SEC win.
