On Saturday, the top ranked Alabama football team will host SEC rival Arkansas at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The last time Arkansas beat Alabama was in 2006, when Arkansas won 24-23 in two overtimes. Arkansas has not had a good season so far: they’re 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the SEC. Let’s take a look at what Alabama has to do to win, what Arkansas has to do to win, and then I’ll get to my prediction.
All about attitude
Stay humble and play with dominance: when Alabama plays teams they are confident they can beat, their attitude shows on the field. Sloppy plays, costly mistakes, and sorry stats are results of being arrogant against an opponent that is an “easy” win. Several times this season the Tide has shown what happens when they go into an “easy” game and don’t play the way they should. Alabama needs to work as hard against Arkansas as they would any other game.
AJ McCarron still hasn’t had that great game this year that he needs, so playing a great game this week can help both his confidence for the rest of the season, and his chances of being a 1st round NFL pick.
Arkansas has struggled all season, even against non-conference opponents. If the Razorbacks want to have a chance to beat the #1 team in the nation, they have to be flawless every single play, both offensively and defensively. The Razorbacks will have to attack the Tide on both sides of the ball, try to stop the running game, and throw deep to threaten the Tide’s secondary.
Alabama. I think the Crimson Tide won’t have a problem against the Arkansas Razorbacks. So far this season, Arkansas hasn’t proven to be a threat at all in the SEC. They have struggled all season on both sides of the ball, and I don’t expect them to solve those problems before facing Alabama.
My score prediction: 45-7
