Representing El Tri has become a curse, a form of kryptonite for its Mexican representatives.
Giovani Dos Santos and Javier Hernandez’s noteworthy performances at club level have made it apparent that El Tri’s deficiencies are deeper rooted.
Lack lustered in green yet flourishing at club level, two of El Tri’s brightest talents have left fans wondering why?
El Tri has lacked conviction particularly from important players like Hernandez and Dos Santos. But that doesn’t seem to be the case when they represent their clubs in Europe.
Dos Santos was a menace this weekend scoring two goals in the 4-1 win over Valencia.
Dos Santos’s second goal nearly lit the Madrigal on fire.
So poised was his second strike that one would think El Tri had qualified for the World Cup already. Dos Santos showed no signs of the deteriorating mess El Tri had become.
Its like he was in a different state of mind, one that he seems to have constructed with his club. Even the Little Pea was a completely different player in red. Scoring the game winner against Stoke and a double on Tuesday against Norwich.
Hernandez was full of confidence, far different from the player that botched a routine tap in against Cost Rica in San Jose.
El Tri fans may be perplexed as to why their brightest players can’t produce those same results in a region like the CONCACAF. The fact of the matter is El Tri is decaying on its own. Separate from club play El Tri is a problem of its own. Hernandez and Dos Santos have proven that.
There is no denying that that problem goes beyond just Football.
El Tri has had way too many managers in such a short span of time. It seems that the Mexican Football Federation is not making the right decisions. On the contrary decisions are being thrown left and right without careful consideration.
Sure it is understandable to panic when on the verge of missing out on a World Cup. But at the moment there is no clarity in the team. There is no understanding as to where it is headed or if it will even make it to Brazil.
A new manager every week isn’t going to get Mexico to Brazil any quicker. Now is the time to be poised and hash out a plan for the future. El Tri needs order but the FMF is yet to offer that order.
