Megatron got Mega yards in the victory over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday. His fantasy numbers were outstanding, as in a Point Per Reception (PPR) league he earned 50.90 points with 14 receptions, 329 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Calvin “MegaTron” Johnson went off this past week and this is only a sign that he is going to put these numbers up for weeks to come and more likely for years to come. Calvin produced these off the chart numbers in Sunday’s game because he was being single covered by Dallas’ cornerback Brandon Carr.
If you’re looking for a free agent receiver look no further than a guy named Marvin Jones.
Jones a wideout for the Bengals is probably available in eight and 10 man leagues. He put up four touchdowns and had 122 yards and is becoming Andy Dalton’s red zone target as an alternative to A.J. Green.
Another Free agent pickup to grab is Seahawks receiver Percy Harvin. A slot receiver acquired from the Vikings last offseason, Harvin is coming back from an injury and is set to take the field soon. The timing of his return could not have come at a better time, as Seattle’s stud receiver, Sidney Rice, went down Monday night with a season ending torn ACL. If your team is set at wide receiver, use Harvin or Jones as trade bait, as both can be used down the stretch to help your team.
Brown’s wide receiver Josh Gordon was rumored in trade talks this week as the Patriots and 49ers had showed some interest. However, no big trades occurred as the deadline came and went. The only meaningful trade involved the Patriots trading for Defensive Tackle Isaac Sopoaga in exchange for a 5th round pick.
If Gordon was traded to a team that had a lethal aerial attack, I would suggest that owners keep him. But now that Gordon will remain in Cleveland, his numbers will probably stay the same or possibly decrease. The Browns’ schedule has the Ravens, then a bye, then the Bengals. Gordon has had inconsistent production recently, as evidenced by his two fantasy points in Week 7 and 19 in Week 8. Gordon also has no quarterback or running game so it will be difficult for him to increase his production.
