Last night the third night of the NBA season took place, with just a pair of games being played. And while the slate was very small, for the North Carolina fan base that follows their former stars, it was still a good night as both games featured former Heels, the night cap being a head to head match up. As we all know by now, if there were players that once called Chapel Hill home in action, the following day on ISPORTSWEB there will be the “North Carolina in the NBA” recap. So without further ado let’s check on the games from 10/31/13…
In the first game of the night it’s the New York Knicks heading to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bulls in what was the first of four clashes between the franchises. The game was played at the United Center in front of a standing room only attendance of 22,022 and was televised by TNT. For the visiting team from the Big Apple it’s point guard Raymond Felton, who starts and plays a total of 37 minutes in all. In that stint the floor general scores 13 points (5 for 14 ~ 1 for 3 ~ 2 for 3) to go with six assists, four rebounds, a block and a pair of turnovers while having a +6 pts differential. In what was a very low scoring, decided by a floater with 5.7 seconds, it was Chicago winning by one over New York, with the final score being 82 to 81. The loss slides the Knicks to 1 and 1 (0-1 on the road) and the franchise will be back in action on 11/03 when they host the Timberwolves.

The second game of the night has the Golden State Warriors playing in-state foe Los Angeles Clippers in what was the first of four confrontations between the squads. The game was broadcasted by TNT and was played in a packed house of 19,060 at the STAPLES Center. For the visiting team we should have seen second year man Harrison Barnes, but the small forward still has not seen any action yet in the 2013-14 campaign. On the other side it should be a pair of former Heels, however long time veteran Antawn Jamison did not see the floor in this one, while rookie Reggie Bullock got in but for less than sixty seconds. In that small time the shooting guard did not score, or do much else for that matter. In a high scoring affair it’s the home team taking this one, as Los Angeles defeated Golden State by double digits, with the final score being 126 to 115. The win gives the Clippers their first one on the season, 1 and 1 (1-0 at home), and they will be back on the hardwoods on 11/01 when they head to the Kings. The loss drops the Warriors to 1 and 1 (0-1 on the road) and the squad will take on the Kings on 11/02.
