Baltimore Ravens safety James Ihedigbo has been called out by Cleveland Browns wide receiver Greg Little for allegedly choking him during a scrum between the two teams during Sunday’s game.
The wide receiver was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after ripping Ihedigbo’s helmet off after the argument.
But Little defended himself after the game.
“I know the ref was saying ‘let go of his face mask’, but he was choking me,” Little said. “There’s a thin line between football and just morals and if you’re a man, you’re not going to let a guy spit in your face, and you’re not going to let a guy choke you.”
After hearing the accusations against him, Ihedigbo followed up with his thoughts on the situation.
“I would never personally cross the lines or play outside the rules in any manner,” Ihedigbo told reporters. “I have my hand on his chest. It is what it is. He ripped off my helmet and threw it. I guess he’s looking back on him losing his cool and saying what took place that didn’t take place. The refs would’ve seen it. Other players would’ve seen it. I would’ve been punished for the play as well.”
There have not been any reports on whether or not either player would be fined or suspended for the altercation.
“I would be very surprised,” Ihedigbo said about a possible punishment. “You can watch the tape at full speed. It was an altercation on the field. The refs dealt with it the correct way.
Little said that if he is fined for the unsportsmanlike conduct call, then Ihedigbo should be fined as well.
“Just be who you are,” Ihedigbo added in response to Little’s accusations. “Your job is to make plays and my job is to stop you from doing that. Be who you are on the field.
