Sunday was a small schedule in the National Basketball Association, with just four games on tap. Of those one had a touch of carolina blue, which happened to be a head to head match up as well. And as we know, when former Heels, be it one or all fifteen, are in action the next day on ISPORTSWEB there will be the “North Carolina in the NBA” recap.
In the only game of the night with former North Carolina players in it it’s the San Antonio Spurs (-2.5) going to the Big Apple to take on the New York Knicks in the first of a pair of games that the two franchises will have. The game was displayed at the mecca of basketball, Madison Square Garden, in front of a sold out crowd of 19,812 and was televised by MSG. For the visiting squad from the lone star state it’s shooting guard Danny Green, who plays 23 minutes. In that time the guard had a double double, scoring a game high 24 points (8 for 11 ~ 6 fot 9 ~ 2 for 2) to go along with a game high 10 rebounds, as well as one steal, a block and a turnover along with having a game high +35 pts differential. On the other side it was speedster Ty Lawson, who starts and plays 25 minutes. The point guard scored seven points (3 for 10 ~ 1 for 5 ~ 0 for 0) to go with a pair of assists, a steal, a block and a turnover while having a pts differential of -18. In what was a lopsided with, San Antonio defeated New York by 31 points, with the final score being 120 to 89. With the win, the fourth in a row, the Spurs are now 6 and 1 (3-1 on the road) and will be back in action on 11/11 when the head to play the 76’ers. The loss slides the Knicks to 2 and 4 (1-3 at home) and will try to right the ship when they head to play the Hawks on 11/13.
And there it is, the full run down for the games of 11/10/13 with former UNC Basketball players in them. Make sure to come back tomorrow for the next edition of the “North Carolina in the NBA” recap. And as always, check back with ISPORTSWEB for more things Carolina!
