It has been rumored that Spanish giants are considering re-approaching Uruguayan super star, Luis Suarez, in the winter transfer window that opens in January. Suarez was subject to months of long speculation about leaving Liverpool FC for Champions League ambitions so Real Madrid came attempted to negotitate with the Merseyside club, in which they could satisfy Suarez’s craving for the Champions League and be able to win trophies every season. This would also be Liverpool FC’s favorable buyer because Arsenal FC have been known to be interested in the Uruguayan striker and have bid for him in the summer transfer window but were unsuccessful. Seeing him transfer to ‘Los Merengues’ instead of Arsenal FC would be a better option for Liverpool as it wouldn’t allow Arsenal to seize a great attacker to boost to confirm their hopes of retaining a top-four spot and a possible first place finish. Should Liverpool FC let their joint top goal scorer leave to Real Madrid in January?
At 26 years of age, Luis Suarez is entering his prime years as a striker and this is where consistency and prolific form occur for most strikers. At the moment, Suarez has recorded 8 goals and a single assist in a total of 6 appearances for the Merseyside based club. This is a fantastic proof of how good his form has been, especially if you consider his recent 10 match ban disciplinary suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic in Liverpool FC’s 2-2 draw to Chelsea FC in last year’s Premier League match. The ban carried over from last seasons edition of the Premier League to the current 2013-2014 season where he has brought himself to a new level within the league. The club and the supporters have been fantastic to support Luis Suarez in this turbulent time in his Liverpool career. The fans know that they have one of the best strikers in the world and are just dreading the day that he should leave for pastures new.
Some of his teammates came out in defense of the long saga with rumors of him being unhappy at Anfield with the legendary captain, Steven Gerrard having this to say about their prized asset. “That is the message for Luis. Move on if you want, further down the line, but a player of his calibre should wait for the big one to come to him. He deserves to play for one of the best teams in the world, a Barcelona or a Real Madrid. They will come calling for him again. I am hoping from a biased point of view that he gives us another year and shows us the form he did last season. Maybe it will be time for him to go next year or the year after. I don’t think it is the right time for him to go just yet. What we can achieve this season depends on whether he stays or goes in my opinion.”
Liverpool FC have been in fantastic form this season after scoring 21 goals and conceding 10 goals in 11 games played. This leaves the club currently sitting in 2nd place with a total of 23 points from a possible 33 points in the Premier League. This goes to prove the club’s current ambitions of making the cut to achieve a Champions League spot as its main priority and even go for the title. With the club performing well, will Luis Suarez want to leave so soon? Will he stay and don the coveted Liverpool shirt for just a little longer and see if achieving the top four spots is still a possibility especially in this stage in his career?
