North Carolina in the NBA Recap… 12/02/13

UNC in the NBAISPTwitterQuite a small NBA line up with just five games in all, of those just two had a touch of carolina blue, none of them being head to head match ups. But, as we all know, be it a full schedule or a small one, if there are former Tar Heels playing the next day on ISPORTSWEB there will be the daily recap called “North Carolina in the NBA”….

NBA Heels Teams

The first of the two game is the one between the Atlanta Hawks and the San Antonio Spurs in what was the first of two clashes between the franchises. The game was played at the AT&T Center with an attendance of 17,318 and was on Fox Sports SouthWest. For the home squad it was Danny Green, who starts and plays for a total of 23 minutes. In that time the shooting guard scores just three points (1 for 7 ~ 1 for 5 ~ 0 for 0) to go with four rebounds, a steal and a block while tallying a pts differential of -3. In what was quite a close game it was San Antonio taking this one by a deuce, beating Atlanta by the final of 102 to 100.

The win puts the Spurs at 15 and 3 (8-1 at home) and the team is holding the first place tied with another squad. The franchise will be back in action on 12/04 when they travel to take on the TimberWolves.

And the other game of the night is the one between the Houston Rockets and the Utah Jazz in the second of two match ups between the teams, the first one going to the Rockets 104 to 93. The game was shown on FSRM and was disputed in front of a crowd of 15,801 at the Energy Solutions Arena. For the home squad it’s Marvin Williams, who starts and plays 31 minutes in all. In that time frame the power forward scored 10 points (4 for 10 ~ 2 for 5 ~ 0 for 0) to go with five rebounds and a steal while registering a +11 pts differential. In the end it was the home squad taking this one, as Utah defeated Houston by a half dozen, with the final score being 109 to 103.

The win gives the Jazz a 4 and 15 (3-6 at home) record on the year, however the franchise is still last in the Western Conference, 6.5 games behind the last playoff slot. The franchise will be back on the hardwood on 12/04 when they host the Pacers.
