Buffalo Bills Week 14 preview

buffalo-billsSunday, the 4-8 Buffalo Bills travel to Tampa Bay to take on the 3-9 Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m.

Here are a few things to look for Sunday.

Look for E.J. Manuel to take more chances. This Buffalo team really doesn’t have anything to play for at this point, so I think Head Coach Doug Marrone is going to put his rookie to the test during these final weeks. So far, Marrone has put training wheels on the playbook because Manuel has missed so much time due to injury. I think in these coming weeks, the Bills will find out if Manuel is their guy going forward.

C.J. Spiller really benefitted from the bye week, rushing for 149 yards last week. He seems to have regained his explosiveness that was missing while he’s been nursing an ankle injury. He’s going to have to be at the top of his game because Tampa Bay knows how to stop the run. The Bucs are 12th in the league when it comes to rushing yards allowed per game. Buffalo is very dependent on the run game, so this matchup could decide the game.

Watch for two old foes in Stevie Johnson and Darrell Revis matching up once again. Johnson and Revis have had many battles while Revis was a member of the Jets. I expect Revis to be on Johnson all afternoon, meaning Johnson is going to have to bring his “A” game because Revis is still one of the best cornerbacks in the game.

Defensively, the Bills are going to have to keep pressure on rookie Mike Glennon. Glennon has shown that he can be decent quarterback in this league. But, he is still a rookie, and rookies are prone to making mistakes. Mario Williams and company have been having a great season when it comes to getting to the quarterback, and I expect that Sunday will be no different.

The secondary will also benefit from Glennon being a rookie. This Bills secondary has been great at intercepting opposing quarterbacks. The Bills are 2nd in the league in interceptions with 16, only trailing to the Bucs, who lead the league with 17. The Bills are going to have to stay ahead in the turnover game to give themselves a chance to win.

Looking to Vegas, they have the Bucs favored by 2.5 over the Bills. I can’t argue with Vegas on this one. This Bills team has shown they can’t win close games. The Bucs on the other hand, have been playing pretty well, winning 3 of their last 4. I think the Bills go on the road and get a win. Final score: Buffalo 24, Tampa 20.
