North Carolina in the NBA Recap… 12/10/13

As usual, when there are former North Carolina players are in action the next day on ISPORTSWEB there is the daily recap entitled “North Carolina in the NBA”. So, without further interruptions let’s check out this run down for the games from 12/10/13…

NBA Heels Teams

First game of the night and the first head to head match up is the one between the New York Knicks {5th in the Atlantic Div ~ East Conf} and the Cleveland Cavaliers (-2.5) {4th in the Central Div ~ East Conf} in what was the first of a quartet between the franchises. The game was played at the Quicken Loans Arena with an attendance that marked 14,580 and was covered by Fox Sports Ohio. For the squad from the Big Apple it’s Raymond Felton, who started and played 19 minutes. In that time the point guard scored six points (3 for 8 ~ 0 for 2 ~ 0 for 0) to go with three assists, two rebounds, a block and a turnover while having a -10 pts differential. On the other side it’s big man Tyler Zeller, who just got a couple of minutes in this one. In that stint the forward/center scored one point (0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 1 for 2) to go along with registering a pts differential of -1. In the end it was the home squad winning this one, as Cleveland beat New York by 15 points, with the final score being 109 to 94.

KnicksCavs

The win puts the Cavs at 8 and 13 {38.1%} (7-3 at home) and the team (4-6 in the last 10) are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, one game behind the last playoff team. The franchise will be back in action on 12/13 when they head to the sunshine state to take on the Magic (6-15).

The loss drops the Knicks to 5 and 15 {25.5%} (3-7 on the road) and the squad (2-8 in the last 10) is second to last in the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games behind the last playoff squad. The franchise will be back on the hardwoods on 12/11 when they head to the Windy City to take on the Bulls (8-11).

The next game of the schedule is the other head to head match up as the San Antonio Spurs (-8) {1st SouthWest Div ~ West Conf} head north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors {2nd Atlantic Div ~ East Conf} in the first of two clashes between the squads. The game was broadcasted on Fox Sports SouthWest and was disputed at the Air Canada Centre in front of a crowd that numbered 17,702. For the team from the lone star state it’s Danny Green, who starts and gets a total of 26 minutes. In they time frame the shooting guard scored 14 points (5 for 7 ~ 2 for 4 ~ 2 for 2) to go with three boards, two assists, two blocks and a steal while tallying a +15 pts differential. On the other side, for the home squad, it should have been Tyler Hansbrough, but the power forward does not come off the bench in this one. In the end it is San Antonio taking this one, beating Toronto by 13, with the final being 116 to 103.

SpursRaptors

The win puts the Spurs to a 16 and 4 {80.0%} (8-2 on the road) and the team (7-3 in the last 10) is holding on to the second place in the Western Conference, a game behind the top slot. The franchise will be back playing on 12/11 when they head to take on the Bucks (5-16).

The loss slides the Raptors to 7 and 13 {65.0%} (3-7 at home) and the squad (3-7 in the last 10) is tenth in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games behind the last playoff team. The franchise will try to get back to a winning way on 12/13 when they take on the 76′ers (7-15) on the road.

And we close this out with the only non head to head match up, as well as being a divisional clash, as the Milwaukee Bucks (+7.5) {5th Central Div ~ East Conf} take on the Chicago Bulls {3rd Central Div ~ East Conf} in the first of four match ups between the teams. The game was played in front of 21,303 at the United Center and was shown on CSNC. For the visiting team it was John Henson, who 41 minutes in this one. In that time the power forward scored a game him 25 points (11 for 17 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 3 for 4) to go with a game high 14 rebounds (six on the offensive side), a game high six blocks, three steals, a pair of assists and three turnovers while having a +5 pts differential. In a very low scoring game it was Milwaukee winning this one, defeating Chicago by the final of 78 to 74.

BucksBulls

The win puts the Bucks at 5 and 16 {23.8%} (3-8 on the road) and the team (3-7 in the last 10) is in last place in the Eastern Conference, four games behind of the last playoff spot. The franchise will be back on the court on 12/11 when they host the Spurs (16-4).
