Pittsburgh Steelers set to face Rodger-less Packers

The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-8) will travel to Lambeau Field to face the Aaron Rodger-less Green Bay Packers (7-6-1).

Just a few days ago it was announced that Packers’ quarterback, Aaron Rodgers would miss his fourth consecutive game due to the collarbone injury he suffered in week 9 against the Chicago Bears.

Matt Fynn will get the start against the Steel Curtain, a match-up the Steelers have to be happy with. Even though the Steelers haven’t met the Packers since Rodgers and company handed the Steelers a loss in the Superbowl 3 years ago facing Rodgers is something no team is too keen on doing.

This is especially true for a Steelers’ defense that’s been highly  inconsistent this season. Despite a good effort against the Cincinnati Bengals you never know just which Steelers’ defense will show up.

The Packers are coming off a huge come-from-behind victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers trail 26-3 at one point but managed to claw there way back to a 37-36 victory. An embarrassing loss for the Cowboys but a highly impressive one for the Packers.Pittsburgh Steelers

Matt Flynn started in this game as well. Flynn went 26 for 39, 299 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Flynn is very capable of playing at a high level and having the experience of playing in Green Bay before, he’s become a great fill-in for the absent Rodgers.

The Steelers in their last game managed to pull off the upset victory over the Bengals who lead the AFC North. The Steelers downed the Bengals 30-20.

It was a great performance across the board for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger went 20 for 25 for 191 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Running back, Le’Veon bell carried the rock 24 times for 57 yards and one touchdown while receiver Antonio Brown has another big game.

Brown had five catches for 66 yards, one receiving touchdown and one punt return for a touchdown as well. The Steelers started the game off hot and were able to close it out in the end.

The offense will need to do the same when it comes to starting the game off strong but needs to maintain steady control. A perfect example of a big-lead to a collapse was seen last week with the Cowboys and Packers.

The big factor for the Steelers on defense will be pressure on Flynn. Last week the Steelers did a good job at putting pressure on Andy Dalton. Cam Heyward is beginning to come to form. Last week against the Bengals Heyward had a good presence in the pass rushing game. LaMarr Woodley will miss another week of action and with his absence players like Heyward have to continue to step-up.

Kickoff between the Steelers and Packers is set for 4:25. The game will be broadcast live on CBS.
