Bledsoe, Suns blow by Mavericks

The Phoenix Suns are on fire right now. I was in attendance and witnessed quite the offensive display as the Suns marched past the Dallas Mavericks by the score of 123-108. Phoenix was in firm control the entire way after getting off to a hot start by dropping a season-high 38 points in the first quarter.

Eric Bledsoe led the way with 25 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field, he also chipped in with 6 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal. Phoenix had 5 players in double figures and shot 50 percent from downtown, hitting 15 of their 30 three point attempts. Jeff Hornacek was quite the shooter in his day, so he must be proud of the way his team has shot the ball from behind the arc this year.

Before the game Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle said he believes that the Phoenix Suns are “legit” this season. Now that the Suns aren’t under the radar anymore, it’ll be interesting to see how they respond. Tonight they answered the call and proved coach Carlisle right.

Both teams were playing their second game in as many nights and the Suns had the upper hand due to them being the much younger squad. Dallas looked extremely fatigued at times and just couldn’t keep up with the fast paced attack from Phoenix.

“Offensively, it was probably our best game of the season,” said Head Coach Jeff Hornacek.

Gerald Green’s shooting tonight helped boost Phoenix to it’s 7th win in 8 games.

MVP of the game: Eric Bledsoe. He shot extremely efficiently and made some huge buckets down the stretch. Dallas had no answer for him defensively.

X-Factor: Gerald Green. Green’s 22 points off the bench was huge, he hit some big threes and helped keep the momentum in Phoenix’s favor for the most part.

By the numbers:

75- The Suns shot seventy-five percent from the field in the 4th quarter, which is just ridiculously efficient.

38- The thirty-eight points scored in the first quarter marked a season high for Phoenix.

15- Fifteen three pointers made by the Suns matched a season high.

9- The Suns out-rebounded the Mavericks by nine, which was key to securing the win.

2- That is how many games back the Suns are from the 4th seed in the West.

Who’s next: vs. Los Angeles Lakers
