MSU Sports: Rose Bowl or National Championship in basketball?

In the midst of all the Max Bullough controversy, isportsweb.com’s MSU beat writers James Edwards III and Ryan Squanda sat down and discussed what would be more important this year for MSU Sports: A Big Ten Championship and Rose Bowl victory for the football team or a National Championship this year for the basketball team?

Below is a video of us discussing the matter, but we want to know: What do you think? Let us know down below in the comments section.

Gotta be the football team. Going to the Final Four regularly, which Izzo has done, is enough to get top recruits (although he didn’t land Jabari). Meanwhile, the football team really hasn’t been very good for the last 20 years. These past few years have been special, and a Rose Bowl victory would truly cap it off and solidify this team as a contender. Like Ryan said, Izzo is already a god on campus. Dantonio will be on his way there with a win this week.

Scott, I’m not sure that they want to be “Gods” on campus. Izzo wants to make this a national program? He needs national championships. No better time than now…

A national championship trumps non-national championships.

Rose Bowl win will start next season in top 5 for sure. Think they have a good chance at National championship next year. As much as I love MSU basketball, I don’t think they have a national championship team this year.
