BREAKING: Michigan football to hire Alabama OC Doug Nussmeier

Just hours after Al Borges was fired from his position as Michigan’s offensive coordinator, reports have been swirling that Alabama’s Doug Nussmeier would fill his spot.

The move, which has apparently been confirmed by CBS Sports (Michigan hires Alabama OC Nussmeier away from Alabama) as well as numerous sources on Twitter.

Getting a guy like Nussmeier is not only huge for the struggling Michigan offense, but it gives them another proven recruiter to go along with Brady Hoke.

Nussmeier has run a pro-style offense at Alabama, which runs the ball very well. Improving the way this team runs the ball is one of the main things Michigan needs to work on next year, so Nussmeier will be a huge help in that regard.

Alabama’s success is known by all college football fans, and Nussmeier has had a lot to do with that. He has been with Alabama as their offensive coordinator for the last two seasons. In his first season, the Crimson Tide won their second consecutive national championship.

Previously, Nussmeier coached under John L. Smith at Michigan State as their quarterbacks coach and with Scott Linehan in the NFL as the St. Louis Rams quarterbacks coach. He also had coaching gigs with Fresno State and Washington before joining Alabama in 2012.
