Barclays Premier League Preview-Gameweek 26

Cardiff City v Aston Villa

Aston Villa v Cardiff City

Aston Villa v Cardiff City

After a 3-0 loss to Welsh rivals Swansea, Cardiff will be looking to bounce back in the relegation battle as they take on a struggling Aston Villa side. Cardiff, who are in the relegation zone must find a way to get a result this week because West Brom and Fulham have difficult matches against Chelsea and Liverpool. A win on Tuesday gives them a chance to pull out of the relegation zone for the time being. However, all eyes will be in Cardiff’s new acquisitions: Wilfried Zaha and Kenwyne Jones. These two players have the capability to change a match and will be useful in matching the firepower possesed by Aston Villa. Despite a newly shaped Cardiff squad by their new manager, Christian Beneke and Gabriel Agbonlahor will want to squander any chance of Cardiff victory on Tuesday.

Matchday Prediction: 2-1 Aston Villa

Hull City v Southampton

Hull City have surprised many who follow the Barclays Premier League this season. After 25 matches, they are in 11th place with some dominating performances. Another positive for Hull is their new signing, Shane Long. The Irishman has two goals in two games and will be looking to add to his tally at his new club. If he can strike again against Southampton, he will surely become a fan favorite. However, a strong Southampton squad will be in the way as Adam Lallana will look to have another dominating performance from the midfield. These key players will decide the match, but Southampton will be favorites.

Matchday Prediction: 3-1 Southampton

West Ham v Norwich

There is another relegation battle on Tuesday as the Canaries will play the Hammers at Upton Park. After much scrutiny, Sam Allardyce has pulled West Ham just above the relegation zone with a triplet of strong results which included a 0-0 draw with Chelsea. Ironically, the other “struggling” team, Norwich City drew Manchester City 0-0 at the weekend. Norwich proved that they could handle the big boys as their defense held strong. Despite a good result, Norwich have been very inconsistent this year. They will have a difficult time on Tuesday as West Ham are firing on all cylinders.

Matchday Prediction: 2-0 West Ham

West Brom v Chelsea

Ever since the sacking of Steve Clark, West Brom have been on the downfall, which has left them consistently scrapping for points as they reside in 17th place of the Barclay’s Premier League. Despite the poor number of points, the problem has not been the number of loses, but the number of draws the Baggies have had this season. The goals have not gone in when they need it most, especially when they are tied with another team. However, on the other side of the pitch will be a destructive Chelsea squad who have been instrumental in their style of play this year. José Mourinho’s mark has been made, and the full squad is committed to the main goal. For Chelsea, this should be a routine win away from home, but expect West Brom to fight for all 90 minutes.

Matchday Prediction: 3-1 Chelsea

Arsenal v Manchester United

Manchester United v Arsenal

Manchester United v Arsenal

Arguably the most important game of the week, Arsenal and Manchester United will fight for three points at the Emirates. Both teams are coming off shocking results from the weekend. It is hard to decide which result was more significant. Arsenal were manhandled by a Liverpool squad who looked capable of beating anyone on Saturday. The 5-1 loss leaves Arsenal licking their wounds as they look to recover against Manchester United. Although United is a challenging fixture for any team, they have not been themselves this season. Specifically in 2014, Manchester United have lost to an array of teams. And again, last weekend, they suffered a 2-2 draw to last placed Fulham. The pressure will be undoubtedly building now for David Moyes, so do not be surprised if he is sacked if they get dominated by Arsenal on Wednesday.

Matchday Prediction: 3-1 Arsenal

Everton v Crystal Palace

This Tuesday, Everton will be looking for a convincing victory against a revitalized Crystal Palace squad. Since the appointment of Tony Pulis, Palace have been stronger, which has been proven by results against teams they need to beat. The results have been happening because of the goals Palace have been scoring. While goals have been more regular for Palace, Everton  have found it difficult since the injury of their loan striker, Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has been the main man at Goodison Park and without him they have had difficulty. Despite the absence of Lukaku, Everton will find it easy in front of their supporters.

Matchday Prediction: 4-0 Everton

Manchester City v Sunderland

After dropping four points in the last two games, Manchester City will be looking to thrash Sunderland. At the Etihad, Manchester City have been prolific in the goalscoring component of the game. With the absence of their leading goalscorer, Sergio Agüero, the production has been a little less than usual, but they will still be dominant against Sunderland. While Man City are at the top, Sunderland are near the bottom, which will be discouraging for their supporters. Sunderland will struggle to cope with Man City on Wednesday.

Matchday Prediction: 5-1 Man City

Newcastle v Tottenham

Tottenham concluded a great weekend with a win on Sunday against Everton. They won 1-0 thanks to an Adebayor goal, which puts them within three points of the top four. This match at St. James’s Park will be crucial in keeping pace with Liverpool. However, Newcastle will be looking to upset the high flying Spurs on Wednesday with a victory that would keep them away from Southampton’s’ grasp.

Matchday Prediction: 2-1 Tottenham

Stoke City v Swansea

This mid-table clash between Stoke City and Swansea City will be an interesting fixture for both sides. After a few positive results against Manchester United, and most recently Southampton, Stoke will be looking to add their team onto the list of losses for Swansea. Although it has been rough for Swansea this season, the newly appointed manager Gary Monk turned things around with a massive three points against Cardiff on Saturday. He will be looking to take his side to the Britannia to win yet another three points.

Matchday Prediction: 3-1 Swansea

Fulham v Liverpool

After a stunning comeback on Sunday, Fulham will be looking to add Liverpool to their list of giant killing results on Wednesday. With the well organized and hardworking defense of Fulham, it will take the same performance that Liverpool had against Arsenal to defeat the hungry Fulham team. Even though Fulham are hard working, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge will prove too much for Fulham.

Matchday Prediction: 4-0 Liverpool
