LeBron James would be crazy to leave Miami Heat

Is LeBron James going to leave the Miami Heat this summer? It seems Heat fans can breathe a sigh of relief after James says he can’t envision himself leaving in a recent interview. James, along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh can opt out of their current contracts and become free agents this offseason. For the time being, however, fans in Miami can rejoice knowing that James plans to keep his talents in South Beach.

James would be crazy to leave the Heat right now or in the near future. Team president Pat Riley has surrounded James with the talent to win two consecutive NBA titles and appearances in three straight NBA Finals. I can’t see James leaving Miami, where he has become a proven winner in the league and with Riley in charge, James knows talent won’t be an issue for Miami’s roster.

With James being the best player in the world, other players will want to come to Miami to play with him. Who wouldn’t want to live in Miami with the beautiful weather and no state taxes? Any player that comes to the Heat knows that they will have a legitimate chance at winning a championship. With that being said, it would be surprising to see James not in a Miami uniform next season.

James really opened up about his free agency situation in an interview with NBA TV analyst Steve Smith. When asked about leaving the Heat James says, “At this point, I can’t. We don’t know what can happen from now to July, you know, so what I’ve been able to do this whole season to this point is just worry about what’s at hand and that’s winning a championship.” That sounds like a guy who plans on staying where he is and just focusing on winning more NBA Finals MVPs. While the Heat are looking to win their third consecutive NBA title, all this free agent talk about James won’t heat up again until after the NBA Finals.

There has been some speculation that James might opt of his contract this summer to go play with the Los Angeles Clippers and point guard Chris Paul. I know James and Paul are good friends, however a lot of things will have to fall into place in order for James to become a Clipper. I believe James learned from his last stint in free agency when deciding to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers. With all the backlash that came from the fans in Cleveland, James wouldn’t want to go through the same thing in Miami with their fans. Whether or not the Heat win their third straight championship, changes are forthcoming for the Heat, so even though the Big Three era of James, Wade, and Bosh may be coming to an end, the main constant in Miami will be James.
