D’Qwell Jackson to visit the Indianapolis Colts

Per Mike Wells, D’Qwell Jackson will be visiting the Indianapolis Colts.

The 30-year-old inside linebacker was recently cut by the Cleveland Browns, where he’s been since 2006.

Jackson has gone three straight years without missing a game and has recorded more than 100 tackles in each of those seasons.

In 2013 he had 141 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception.

With Pat Angerer and Kavell Conner set to hit free agency, the inside linebacker position is one of great concern for the Colts. And Jackson would be a nice, short-term signing for the blue and white at that position.

He would bring about another veteran presence to a very young locker room, along with his ability to be a solid tackler on the field.

If Jackson were to be signed, it would most likely mean the eventual departure of Kelvin Sheppard, who was traded for Jerry Hughes last off-season.

Sheppard might still be on the roster heading into training camp and pre-season, but I don’t see the team keeping both Jackson and Sheppard on the final 53-man roster.

Jackson would be among a very young core of backers: Jerrell Freeman, Josh McNary, Henoc Muamba and Justin Hickman.

Although, those names may be unknown to most of you, it is a somewhat promising crop of players.

And the guidance of Jackson would only help their growth. I would love for the Colts to grab him on a cheap, short-term deal.

And having his ex-coach in Rod Chudzinski should only help the horseshoe’s cause. Go Colts!
